Mock interview

Mock interview Jennifer Watson

12-5-2011

My interview was with Sue Stephenson MPA CEIP CPRW, I’m not sure what all the letters behind her name stands for. She is a career counselor and is over the sciences, this had to be the most useful part about this interview, this is great because she is over my degree and in my opinion it will be good to know her because she will be helping me in my future academic career. The most difficult question she asked me where my husband and I met. We had gotten off topic and that is where the conversation ended up. With my hesitation she apologized and said don’t answer that. I know I would never have to answer a question like that in a real interview so I didn’t feel bad about not answering. The reason I didn’t want to answer it is because it’s kind of a crazy story. The most important piece of advice I would give another person interviewing is, you get your interview based off of your education and credentials, you get the job based off of your personality and fit for the company, so be yourself. Three things I learned during this mock interview are it doesn’t matter if the interviewer is on time but you better be! Don’t be nervous, if you can help it and dress-up even if you’re afraid you will look to dressed up, you will be noticed more if you look the part. The three things I would like to improve on my next interview are, have my resume on hand even if you mailed it or faxed it earlier, have an extra one. I also wish I had remembered her name so I could have walked in and said hello by name, might not seem important but it is to me. I would also do a little background cheek to know what I was in for, I felt unprepared and unsure about what I was going to talk about.
