Career fair/ Recruiting Day
November, 7 Hall of Flags Jennifer Watson
· I was finally able to attend a career fair, if that is what is was. I wish I had been able to the big career fair the school had put on but unfortunately I missed it. There were only about a dozen or so employers in attendance most of which were jobs that required little to no education. The jobs were mostly sales or survey takers, jobs that I tried to stay away from since I was sixteen. The only employer I semi-considered was Sundance ski resort, even though you needed only the bare minimum education and skills, they did give free skiing to their employees.
Five questions for Sundance
· This company offers winter employment in either the lifts or there restaurants, with the possibility of getting me through the front door to ski instruct and eventually with my degree in outdoor recreation, a pretty cool career with in of Utah’s top ski resorts.
· The kind of personality type they are looking for is outgoing, good in sales, people skills, knowledge of hoe to ski.
· The company offers internships on a needed basis, meaning if the need arises in a particular department they consider the need. According to the employment specialist a few interns are there at this time (chief and HR).
· I might consider the lift operator position just because of the free skiing for my family and possibly to network.
· The top five skills this company is looking for are people who are good with customer service, reliable, team oriented, experience, and quick to catch on.
