Job shadow: Tina Mcquiston Assistant Director Lehi Legacy Center
1- How did this type of work interest you and how did you get started?
I Love to exercise and I love being around people, I started as a aerobics instructor and when the
job opened up for assistant director it was a natural next step.
2- How did you get your job? What jobs and experiences have led you to your present position?
When the Legacy opened they had many openings for instructor, it was a great move for me
because I lived in Lehi. I worked in Provo Golds gym and there was very little room for advancing
because the people who work there have been there forever and they’re not going anywhere.
3- Can you suggest some ways a student could obtain this necessary experience?
Anyone can get a job as a instructor as long as you take a short course to be an instructor, it’s a
good way to get your name out and get noticed.
4- What are the various jobs in this field or organization?
There are so many from instructor to director of parks and recreation.
5- Why did you decide to work for this company?
Honestly it was convenient at the time but it is great to work for the city and get all the benefits
that come along with it.
6- What do you like most about this company?
I love to know all the locals and the Senior center is a big part of the recreation center, so that is a
great part.
7- Do you find your job exciting or boring? Why?
Not every day is exciting but it is always interesting. There is always something going on in our
Community.
8- Why do customers choose this company?
Customers come to us because there is a feeling of family, everyone who is a regular knows us
and we know them.
